What We Do

We offer free online language classes and host in-person cultural events and workshops in the Lower Mainland.

Our Story

AC/BC (official name: Anishinaabe Circle British Columbia Society) is a registered non-profit Society with a mandate to provide accessible language and cultural opportunities for the Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe Peoples) who live outside our traditional homelands.

We are grateful to, recognize and respect the ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations on whose territories we deliver our programs.

Like all Indigenous peoples, we recognize the importance of connection to our language and culture, which the Canadian government historically sought to diminish and erase. Today, there still exists disparities in accessible opportunities to learn, use, and live in Anishinaabemowin.

Need support due to trauma caused by the Residential School system?

You are not alone!

Connect with the Indian Residential School Survivor Society to access their support services.

Call the KUU-US Crisis Line Society (1-800-588-8717, available 24/7).

In response to this gap, which we see in the Lower Mainland in so-called “Vancouver”, the organization was formed. We believe that no matter where you find yourself, you deserve language and culture. Biindigen (welcome) to the circle.
